Lockeland Springsteen: Nashville 5

Caroline did a Nashville Five feature with Lockeland Springsteen about ways to "Treat Yo Self on a Twenty-Something budget" in Nashville.  Read the full article HERE

Lockeland Springsteen also had this to say about Caroline and her work..

The Virginia native’s music exposes lessons learned from someone with pronounced wisdom and maturity, spinning tales of lost time and turbulent love that seem to expand past her twenty-five years. With a soprano that is as sweet as it is vulnerable, and a sensitive approach to her masterful guitar lines, Spence invites us into a story-telling space that we wouldn’t typically expect from someone with such a fresh and untethered appearance. Certain people are born at the wrong age, maybe even at the wrong time. And though working as an artist might not ameliorate the brokenness, truthful storytellers find ways to learn the more important lessons at a faster rate, so they might go on to live their later decades more fully. Spence is certainly one of these artists, who spins the secrets she has gathered into timeless and irreverent stories.

Spence’s soft and sweet voice adds balance to the track, as she sings about letting someone loose who deserves to go.

SONG PREMIERE: "Trains Cry" on Bluegrass Situation

Bluegrass Situation has the exclusive stream of "Trains Cry" today and had some nice words to say about the album.

"With a voice that blends the clarity of Mindy Smith and the country of Ashley Monroe, singer-songwriter Caroline Spence readies her upcoming debut, Somehow. The unassuming song cycle manages to strike a balance between feeling winsome and weary, pensive and piquant. It's a stunning effort, by any and every measure. That it's Spence's first record makes it all the more notable."

COUNTRY WEEKLY: On The Edge Feature

Caroline is featured in Country Weekly Magazine on page 68 for their "One The Edge" feature.

"Many people probably think that country music equals banjo, fiddle and pedal steel, and everything else is just an accessory. But young.Caroline Spence thinks the songwriting is really the thing that best keeps the music anchored to country traditions."

The first review of the new album, Somehow (out March 3rd) is here!

Greg Jones from Ear To The Ground Music calls it "a country album with impressive intimacy and flavor" and that Caroline has "has the abilitiy to pierce through the soundscape with a sincerity and genuineness that's rarely found in music today."

2/14/14: American Songwriter Magazine features release of "Mint Condition" single & lyric video

American Songwriter Magazine was kind enough to feature the release of the lyric video for "Mint Condition" on their website.  The song is available on iTunes. The images in the lyric video are all old family photos that were submitted by friends, family, and fans to be used in the video. The lettering of the lyrics was done by my friend Molly Coyne, who created some lyric posters that will be available during my kickstarter campaign next month. Thank you for all who contributed these gorgeous family photos.

Here is my musical valentine to all of you!
